you can imagine that police, law enforcement officials have been told that 9,000 law enforcement officials are in the area now involved in this investigation. there's the manhunt underway for suspect number two, the man in the white hat at the finish line of the boston marathon, now believed to be wearing a gray hoodie. there's the map hunt going on and there are people putting together this puzzle, which is probably becoming ever more clear by the second now they have identified these two men. as you said, looking for a dwelling. trying to go through their vehicles and trying to piece together their movements, not just over the last four or five days here in boston, but before that. there was an enormous amount of information and they no doubt would like to glean from that. let's stick to watertown, massachusetts, which is again where a lot of this culminated tonight. there was this car chase, there was a shoot-out, one suspect, suspect number one in the boston marathon bombings now dead. suspect number two on the loose. do you get the sense that people are heeding the warnings they have

again, we have this from a federal law enforcement official who tells us of this high interest in two people the official describing as possible suspects. trying to locate these people because of where they were near the finish line before the blast of the boston marathon. and also they have an interest in them because of what they were carrying, which appear to be two dark-colored backpacks in which, as we know from investigators, they've been saying early on that from the evidence crime scene photos that they believe that the bomb may have been placed inside a metal container, a pressure cooker, and that in turn was placed inside a black nylon bag or b k backpacks. so they're looking for these men, to locate them. my sources tell me they do not have names for these people, therefore, they're circulating these photographs among federal and state agencies around the country. with a bit of a message, a memo that goes like this, quote, the attached photos are being circulated in an attempt to identify the individuals highlighted. feel free to pass this around to any of your fellow agent

law enforcement officials are cautioning this is what he's saying initially. they still need to check out all the facts and make sure what he is saying is accurate. what he's saying is first of all, this was not planned. the terrorist attack was not planned in conjunction with any foreign terrorist group. second, that they were radicalized online. that there was a video component to their being radicalized, that they were self-radicalized. there was not necessarily any internet communication. but they learned what they learned in terms of ideology, and other things, from the internet. the older brother, according to dzhokhar, tamerlan tsarnaev, was the driving force. of course we'd expect him to say something like that. but according to all accounts that was their relationship anyway. and from this initial impression, the initial interviews, investigators believe that these individuals, at least according to dzhokhar were self-starters, self-radicalized, their motivation was that of a jihadist. they were driven by the jihadist thought, the political and religi
